I know their left side is lumpy because they just ate before I took this photo, but the muscle ridge along their back is lumpy? I’ve noticed this recently and it has me a bit concerned. No noticeable changes in behaviour. Been tubbed so water parameters are very good. (Changes daily).

I'm no expert, but that seems abnormal. It almost looks to me like a kinked spine. Is there any chance we could get a side view? Some of the proportions look a bit off to me. It could just be a dwarf axolotl, but either way, I would probably take it to a vet for some scans if I were you

Okay I will take some pictures in a bit. They aren’t full grown yet. Could it be from being in a tub too long? I have been having troubles finishing up my tanks cycle.

Unfortunately I can’t get a true side picture because the tub isn’t clear enough :/

Unless the tub is really small, I doubt it.

Yeah, I agree, unless it's super small, it would probably be genetic. You can look up photos of regular vs dwarf axolotls and compare the proportions yourself if a photo isn't possible. Otherwise, as long as it's eating and pooping normally, I wouldn't worry too much unless something changes, but I would not recommend ever breeding it

because of how straight the fin is it doesn't look like dwarfism, unless your axolotl develops issues such as curling or spasming don't worry to much about it.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
