Hey, just got my axolotl like a week ago and just wanted to get your guys' opinions on if he looked healthy?

Here's him when I first got him vs now. His gills are a lot fuller and more colorful, and he has gotten a little bigger. He's eating a small cut up earthworm daily and is pretty active and curious. I know his gills look curled but the temperature of the water is 69F (that's as low as I can get it with fans, it can get 115 F here) and he seems to be pretty happy. Also, I'm getting the water quality tested tomorrow. What are your thoughts?

Their gills also curl if the water flow is too strong, so that could be a factor?

I agree with Biev. Try padding the outflow of your filter with some sponge or downgrade to a smaller filter or sponge filter all together and see if that helps at all. Have you thought about moving your aquarium to a cooler room? Or trying ice bottles?

Otherwise I'd say that's one handsome axolotl you have there! I think if he's still happy to take food from you right now, he might not be too stressed out. Claptrap wont take a thing from me on a day if it's too warm for his liking, but he's a fussy boy.
