Is he / she about to die?

I found a sallie in my in-laws swimming pool, it was near clorinated water and was sorta lifeless. He let me scoop him up without running away so after reading about them I knew he wasn’t doing well. I went out and bought a tank and all the proper things, tank, water dish (not too deep), food dish, jungle mix substrate, mister bottle, heat pad, spring water (or rain water) etc. I put pinheads in and he doesn’t seem to want them, so I went and bought him black worms. He didn’t want them either. He lets you get near him and he is lifeless basically. Is there anything I can do for him that I haven’t already tried. I knew nothing about sallie’s as of 2 days ago but I felt bad for him so I read up on them on the internet and learned bascis form there and on this site. I just want so opinions on what else to do for him/her? If he should die does it sound like I have all the basic and proper things to buy one and take care of him in my tank, I think I do? Where is a good place to buy them online? I live in Maryland. Thanks in advance.

What am I doing wrong, I am registered and it says under my name in the post abouve unregistered? And I am logged in???

The fist thing you have to do is get rid of the heat pad! Try to keep him under 70 degrees, or lower if possible.

Then, figure out what type of salamander you have. www.caudata.org/cc is a good place to start.

then try offering it chopped earthworms. if it doesnt eat, let it go.

feed it earthworms. if it doesnt eat, let it go outside before it gets really cold so it has a chance to find a place to stay for the winter

Another thing to consider is that tiger sals are rather rare in Maryland. I know they are protected by law in Virginia. You might want to contact a local authority (like the Baltimore zoo), as it may be illegal to keep it.

Tiger sals are common (almost a "pest" species) in the West, and you can order them online.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
