Hello! 
Since I live near the forest, I decided to go and look for wood pieces for my axolotl tank and I found a perfect cork wood branch, completely hollow on the inside, perfect to make a new hideout for them, (i'm aware that this type of wood floats but I was planning on attaching it to a few rocks), my question is; if i boil it thoroughly and scrub it for a few days, will it be safe for my axolotls?
