I have a friend who because of reasons of his own he can not keep his two tiger salamanders. I have one salamander and like it very much and he is thinking of giving his other two to me. I need to know if all three can live in one tank, or will I need two tanks because mine has been alone. Do salamanders get along. If I keep them in one tank, should I feed them individually in another tank. I have a 60 gallon tank so it is pretty big for more rocks and stuff, will I need extra ponds also if they stay in the same tank.

All three are the same species caught wild in the same area.

I've kept 3 tiger salamanders in a tank half that size for 2 years and not had any issues. Usually when it's feeding time, everyone sticks their head out of their burrow, and I drop a worm in. There's rarely any fighting, or even interaction for that matter. Occasionally I find them sharing a burrow, or two under their 'log' hide. So I wouldn't worry at all about feeding them in a separate container. With a tank that big, there's plenty of room for everyone to cohabitate without conflict.

I provide mine a mix of top soil and coco fiber, which holds burrows very well. All 3 have their own burrows (usually 2 a piece) in different areas of the tank. They also have one small water dish (10x20x5cm or so), but I've only ever caught my female in it. You can add more ponds if you'd like, especially since you have the room for it.
