Helloo,

i was looking for some advice on adding a second axie to my tank. my other axie is 3 months and about 5inches long. Im looking to get a wild type which may be a little smaller, so i am concerned that they will fight or hurt each other, for example if i have to go away for a little while, will they attack each other if they are hungry?

any advice would be great

Try and find an axolotl of a similar size as your first, if you cant do this keep the second one seperate till it has grown on and can be safetly added. There is no exact size difference which is "safe" but an oft quoted percentage is at least 75%, you should be ok with that.

when your adding another axolotl to your already established tank you have to quarantine your new axolotl to make sure he or she has no illness disease like fungus or other nasties that you can see on the outside, what you will need to do is, keep your new axies in a separate tank for at least 1 month. this also may give him or her a little time to grow to the same size :)

yes, at that age they tend ro nip at any axolotls smaller than they are. I would use a tank divider, that way you can keep them seperated in the same tank untill they are about the same size, and by then they would know each other well.
