Interesting problem with a CFB...

I have been taking care of various newts for a while now, but one of my newer ones has me stumped. He has no problem with his body, doesn't appear to be sick, and is normal with his activity. (He likes to lounge all day and be active at night.) However, he only eats once a week. I dig earthworms in my backyard, and he gobbles them up. I feed him until he stops eating and swims into his underwater cave. Next time I try to feed him, which is usually 2-3 days later, he doesn't eat. I just freeze the worms and try again the next day, and that usually doesn't work either. He eats every Sunday, though, because it's when I get off from football. What could be wrong with him? Remember, he has no obvious problems and is quite plump. I know the difference between a fat newt and a bloated one, though.

i dont no it sounds like my old cfb when he broke his leg and it still looked plump then its leg got better and healed and he still only was eating once a week the he died it might not be the same thing with yours but that is what happened with mine

Some animals dont eat that often. Some eat every day. That doesnt mean there's something wrong with him. I feed my Jeffersons sals once a week. The juvies all get fed twice a week. As long as he's eating enuogh food to last the whole week (if he wasn't, he'd eat more when you offered it), then I dont see a problem.

PS: Carl, punctuation is our friend. It's practically impossible to follow a whole paragraph with not one piece of punctuation in it. And posting "I don't know" and a horror story just scares people, and should probably be avoided.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
