New here, and thinking about dipping my toe into the world of newts. I'm interested in T. shanging for my 55 gallon cool-water paludarium. Land area is about 40" x 7-8", very damp, covered with lush mosses and maidenhair fern, with a few small pools of water. The water area is fairly deep and has some current, so I'm hoping for a species of newt that is mostly terrestrial. I've read a few care sheets on T. shanging and think one or two might be good candidates, but I'd love to talk to people who have actually kept them.
Does my setup sound good for them?
Where can I find semi-affordable ones?
How does one feed them?
Do they need bark shelters or other hiding places? Or would the ferns and mosses suffice?
Will I ever see them out during the day?
Anything else I would need to know?
