Ok for a while now I've been contemplating buying a cheap cooler. It would primarily be used for my fbn tank. No where in my home is cool enough for them all year round. This time of year is fine, and the temperature sits approximately 19-22. However parts of the year this figure is hard to keep under 23 at times.

Does anyone else use a cooler, if so, what are your opinions of it. pros/cons.

Before investing in a chiller, you might want to consider some low-tech options. If you have an electrically-driven filter and a solid lid on the tank (glass or plastic hood), you could drop the temp by at least 2-3C by changing those. And if the newts are fully aquatic, you could consider a fan, which can drop the water temp another 3-4C or more.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with chillers. But for the price of a chiller, it may be more enjoyable (to you) to air condition one room of your house.

Thanks for the advice Jen. Greatly appreciated. I’m still undecided, however I did notice the temperature dropped when I took my filter out.
