Hey guys,

Have had my axolotl for a couple of months now. I pretty much used guess work when setting up my tank as had no clue, they have an old drainage pipe, large pebbles and just a small fake plant for a bit of colour.

I have read that real plants can be tricky and the wrong ones can damage their sensitive gills but if I was to want to add real plants is it worth bothering and if so what plants should I go for?
I have a starter 60l tank for now so don't want to overload but wouldnt mind some plant advice for when I upgrade them to my bigger tank.

Thanks xx

Java moss is always good. how big are your pebbles, they could pose a problem to the axolotls

I say pebbles but they like garden ones...big but smooth. My axies like perching on top of them.

Axies about 5in long but that's a guess

Anubias are another good plant and can be attached to driftwood and things
