Hi there, complete newbie here so any help/advice gratefully received. I have two baby axolotls, only an inch long at the moment. Both in tubs with de-chlorinated water, all water tests and temp tests have come out fine but one has been floating for about 3 days now. Hes(?) still eating but blowing bubbles when opening his mouth and his stomach is swollen. He cant sink and is currently swimming upside down. I’ve read on here about fridging which can help if they’re impacted but wanted to get specific advice. If water is clean and temp is fine etc would this be the next course of action?

make sure the water depth is kept shallow, inch and a half max to keep the water oxygenated, clean the tubs daily a couple hours after feeding not before.
the only tests that need performing on tubs are ph/temperature and possibly kh/gh, ammonia will be being produced but should be dealt with by doing 100% daily water changes, because there is no filtration plus water changes being done daily nitrites and nitrates won't develop.
if possible read about and use holtfreters solution to make sure water chemistry is good.
by the sounds of it your axolotl has been surface gulping and has now got trapped air, reducing the water temperature will reduce the air bubble size but fridging may cause other issues such as organ failure if kept at too low a temperature.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
