ok,since i have a tendency to waffle on,i'll try to keep this short.
My tank is arriving tomorrow (4ft...rest of dimensions unknown till it arrives),i have some decor and am going to go for bare bottom tank for the time being, might change to sand.
Ive read everything on here about cycling, googled it to death, asked two different aquariums, asked customers at work .

Even though i know fishless cycling is best,im going to cycle with the axies in,as the lfs has all their axies in tanks with gravel(even the fully grown ones :( )and there are so many babies in the one tank that theyre all eating each other.

I know i'll need to do water changes and keep a close eye on amonia/nitrite/nitrate whilst the tank is cycling.....i'm just scared im going to kill them all.
I guess my question is has anyones cycling gone disasterously wrong and they've lost all their axies?(which would be unlikely since i could put them in containers out the tank till i cycle it,but...yeah).

Am i just being overly worried?

Yes I think you're being overly worried but this isn't always a bad trait to have :p
It shows genuine interest for the well being of your axies.

As far as I know you can cycle with axies in the tank but the only thing is you'll have to do more frequent water changes and make sure the water is dechlorinated and safe. I'd say its recommended that you cycle before adding them though but not sure if it's necessary. Mine did well and I'm sure my tank wasn't completely cycled when I put him in there but everything has been fine.

How many are you adding to the 4ft tank and how many gallons/liters is it? That would probably matter the most. As long as you're not putting too many in at once then they should be good, too many and then your levels might spike.

I'm sure others will be able to input better :p Good luck to you, You should upload pictures when you can also.

I have cycled tanks with axolotl in it. Make sure you spot clean regularly, daily or alternate day 20% water changes and check for ammonia at least every other day. I do the water tests as I am a tad nervous about ammonia building up.

Thanks for the input!

I think the tank is between 200-220 litres? The axolotls at the shop are about 3 inches long,so i was planning on getting 3 of them?
I have the dechlorinater (and randomly have checked with my water supplier to pre check my water levels of things),and hopefully by tomorrow night the tank will be set up!
i think i need to try worry less though!

Just keep a daily eye on those water parameters and you'll be fine

Thanks!

Im glad im not the only person who is cycling (or has cycled) with axies in,i have the testing kit ready and waiting, the tank arrived today, which seems huge!
so should all be set up and things next week.

i think i best go do some press ups for all the water im going to be carrying about my flat!

Just calm down, sounds like you're doing just fine.
