Young female stand for nearly a minute in position like this. Of course it's not dead.

That´s typical shedding behaviour for aquatic newts. All my aquatics do the shame before shedding(sometimes even for a while ater shedding), and i think they look funny :p.

Yes that´s normal. My female also does it. And laying the eggs it´s something similar too!
I´ve got 45eggs, fertile! But she continues very, very fat.

This one was just after shedding.

I have one big larva just before morphing and 8 smaller, they were over 20 but cursed hydras bred to huge numbers and, i think, they are the answer for so few larvae. When spring comes i'll try to stimulate them to another breeding, they didn't stopped yet, but laid eggs are quite few in comparison to November.

Biggest one some days ago (now it stopped eating, consumed backfin and gills are smaller and smaller)

hehe, nice!! How big is it? I think i don´t have any hydras because i filed fresh water with aquasafe and put the eggs on it. think that it won´t be a big problem. Some embryos are moving too. And have a very sharph shape! I think that the female will lay more 80eggs... Also just started to do my daphnia culture! I filled one liter of pound water and approaching my head I saw many tiny insects! Like the recepie says, I aded a lettuce leaves and it looks that´s working! In one week I think will have enough for them when they hatch. At 20ºC how many time from lay to hatch?

This big larva is 3,5 cm long, it hatched in 28. november 2008.
I have hydras because i used for raising larvae natural planted tank and put the hydras with plants.

Beautiful planted tank! What kind of lighting do you use?

I have seen my C. cyanurus do the "walt" from time to time. Great pic.

In this small tank i used 15W 6500K compact lamp (E27).
