Last night I went to bed with about a dozen hatchlings, and this morning I woke up to 50+! Ack!
It looks like I may even have a few Leucistics in the bunch. The majority look wildtype or melanoid. We'll see when they grow bigger.
Also, I'm moving the herp room to a different bedroom today. Right now, the caudates (and turtles) are kept in what was a semi-unfinished attic space. This involves going through a hobbit-sized door, through a hobbit-sized room, and down some steps to a steeply slanted ceilinged room. It makes water changes awkward, as I can't get the buckets up into the tanks because the ceiling is in the way.
So I'm moving my bedroom back there (hey, I don't need ceilings for sleep), and putting the caudates in the room that's currently the living room (the smaller of the two main rooms), and moving the living room to where the bedroom is. Then I have to swap out some tank stands and put the snakes in the living room (where it's warmer). I really should have set this up like this when I moved in. Oops! This is an enormous undertaking. I'm glad I only have two aquatic tanks now! Wish me luck!
