A friend of mine just told me that one of the Bombinas i gave him last year has developed a swollen throat. It´s not air because it´s quite solid. He says the animal ate normally two days ago, and acts normal.
My two guesses are:
-It´s a tumor
-It´s bloat.

It´s only located in the throat.
Please give me some help here...i´d really apreciate it....

I wouldn't say bloat because the whole body would be swollen. My first guess as I was reading was a tumor. I know of some frogs who healed on their own from a tumor. I would suggest to keep humidity and temperature at their ideal readings and to make sure to use only spring or tap water that has been dechlorinated. Distilled water contains extra stuff that can harm or kill them. I'm sorry I don't have any ideas as to how to help it except to get it to a vet.

Hi Azhael,

I'd have to recommend getting it to a vet if at all possible. Possible causes range from local inflammation/infection through foreign body to tumours as well as various others. Ideally investigation (looking in the throat, possibly under anaesthesia, possibly other techniques) would be recommended, but at the very least treatment tried should probably involve anti-inflammatory drugs as well as antimicrobials.

Hope you can get it sorted.

Bruce.

Thanx for the opinions. I´ll let my friend know. The bad news is, there are no trustworthy vets around, but we´ll see what we can do.

Whatever it was it appears to have vanished completely. The animal is eating well, is active and shows no sign of illness. I have no clue what it could have been but thank god it disappeared.

Happy to hear the good news! Just keep watch for the next week or so. Someone I know had a supposed tumor which also disappeared but then a few days later the toad died. Hopefully, will not be the same for your friends.
