An evolutionary arms race is underway between newts and snakes in the Pacific Northwest...a toxin produced by the rough-skinned newt has triggered recent evolutionary changes several times in the garter snake finds the study. Three out of four snake populations studies have scrambled their genes to become resistant to the toxin."
