Hi I got this larvae a few weeks back under the understanding that it was an axolotl. But he doesn't seem to be one. I was wondering if anyone could identify what kind of larvae he is.

Where did you get it from?

A local hole in the wall pet store. They are under new management, so the lady couldn't tell me where they got them from. He was a very pale green when I first got him.

I can say with some certainty that it's not a firebelly. I would have assumed it was an axolotl

It could easily be an axolotl with little of the typical pattern. I get ones with those colors in some of my axolotl offspring. My bet is it is an axolotl but not a typical one.

If it was an olive color when you got it, i´d say it´s most likely a tiger salamander larva. You´ll know for sure once it grows up a bit more....
