Hello

I have currently five baby lotls. They are approx a week old and feeding on microworms and BBS and growing rather fast. I went up to my parents who live on a farm and got what I'm hoping to be daphnia but I didn't really know what I was looking for so I was wondering if you guys could identify these things for me.

I don't want to feed my babies something bad!! Thank you :)

PS- Will post photos soon off my phone :)

Its the little red/orange tgings in question :)

The photos aren't too clear but that's the kind of colour that daphnia can be. If they swim really quickly in a kind of 'Jolty' motion then that's a good sign that they may be daphnia. Baby daphnia are only really identifiable as tiny jumpy dots but bigger ones look like this.

In the time I've been using them I've seen green ones, orangey ones and yellowish coloured ones, I don't know why their colour has varied so much but this might help you identify them by how they swim.
