Gord is probably 50 % right

. Might be two different species. The skinny animal with the speckled back and the light dorsal ridge looks like a Paramesotriton chinensis to me.

Why not to mix newts with xenopus Francesco?

About the species...
Thanks for the help guys...

I´ll try to get more pics to you discover the sex of my boys (or girls)...

Best regards...

Also, in the 3rd to last and 2nd to last pictures, there appears to be an African Cichlid in the tank as well. You've really got to be careful with so many different animals enclosed in such a small area, particularly when they are from different parts of the world. Lots of issues/things which could go wrong - the article Francesco supplied will be a good eye opener.

Why not mix... (1) unequal competition for food and space (2) general stress (3) the very real possiblility that something might go wrong (as in the article linked by Francesco). In the case of the fish, there is also (4) different temperature requirements. A real purist like me would even tell you that it's better to keep two different species of Paramesotriton (hongkongensis and chinensis) separated.

I'm sure the pet shop told you it was OK to put these animals together. Just keep in mind that the "job" of the pet store is to sell you animals. They have little or no experience with *Long Term* care for these animals.

Uh..I meant to say P. Hongkongensis and Chinensis as well....;}

The Xenopus and Newts are for now doing well together but i promise that in future i´ll try to separate them...

Thanks to all of you ;)

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
