Hello, I've been wondering what the warmest temperature for an axolotl would be. I know to try to keep it under 70 degrees, but unfortunately my granparents have special heat requirements for the house and a chiller seems out of my price range. Ive heard anything from 72 degrees to 75 degrees, but I just don't want to overheat my axie. Trying to get it under 70 will be very very challenging, so hopefully I can just use a fan to cool it down

Any help is appreciated!

Hi there FrankFox and welcome to the forum.

Currently I am using a fan, a mesh lid, and frozen water bottles to keep the temperature down. If you can also move the tank to somewhere cooler, even the difference between floor level or on a stand can make a difference, but if you have a basement that could be even better.
This is the fan I'm using.

Who would have thought I'd have needed fans and frozen water bottles at this time of year in the UK. I have 2 tanks, so was back and forth to the freezer all day yesterday. Luckily it is back to rain today, and the forecast for next week is cooler and raining. Much better for the axolotls

I always thought over 70 was asking for trouble. Mine sit at or below 68 most of the time. Aquarium fans are nice^^ I've been looking into them as well since it's been so hot.

Thanks for the help! I bought a fan with a clip, stuck it on the side of the tank, and it has gone all the way down to seventy degrees! I also bought an aquarium fan, so hopefully that'll put it in the sixties when it arrives.
