Question: Ideal pH?

Hi! I'm new!
LookIng to set up/cycle a new tank before i acquire an axolotl to live there.
I assume that a good pH is 7 (neutal)
Does anyone know if they prefer an ever so slightly acidic or basic enviroment?

From what I have seen, Axolotls prefer a very slightly elevated pH, 7.4-7.6 is the ideal range. Some argue for higher.
