I bought two of these labled as Ambystoma tigrinum but I'd like to double check as they look different then the pics I'm seeing online. I'll try to get better side view pics tomorrow.

That definitely looks like a larval A. Tigrinium (tiger salamander) to me.

The bigger one is doing really well, eat almost anything and looks at me when I walk by hoping for food. The smaller one is quite skinny and a very picky eater. I did see him eat well at the pet store so I'm hoping he is just upset from the new home and not sick.

What do you feed them? I know most salamanders prefer live food. Earthworms are best nutritionally and usually easily found at wal-mart.

They've been getting fresh dug earthworms from my chemical free garden. I also offered them a few feeder roaches but they didn't seem interested. Will they eat raw shrimp like axolotls do? Oh, I'm going to get a few feeder guppies tomorrow to see if the little one might like those.
I just tried feeding him again, he ate this time but not a whole lot. He seems really shy and likes his worm cut into small bits.

I don't know about raw shrimp, I'd really only use it as a treat. Feeder guppies can be good but it is usually recommended to quarantine them for 30 days before offering them. I would try to get some blackworms or bloodworms for your little guy.
Once they are morphed they will love feeder roaches, mine do. My smaller tiger is also a bit particular about her food size, she much prefer to be fed a worm cut in half. My big tiger seems to gobble anything I offer.
