I have 3 seperate batches of eggs fast developing. The first is 'my batch' kept in a shallow white lidded tray the white eggs in here have larvae with a majority of speckled backs.
The re-homing tank is 18inches by long and filled up to approx 6 inches of water, with a filter and all are completely white. Finally the parent tank..left these to their own devices...and these are larger and mostly white. I was wondering what part light may play on their colour developement, I appreciate that its the genes that decided the colour but.....

White larvae that develop the "speckled" appearance will be either leucistic, melanoid, or wild-type. Light doesn't really make much difference as I've raised many batches of axolotl eggs in varying light intensities, and the different colors tend to look the same no matter what intesity of light they're raised under.
