Hi all.

It has been a very very long time. Have been rather busy with a new job and stuff, but on topic.

I was walking into my room today, and noticed alot of axie poop everywhere. So I got out my baster, and as I was sucking away, i noticed about 25-35 eggs, up on the leaves and intake pipe on air lines.

I also noticed my albino, Bubbles, had quiet a few stuck to her, and also some little brown dot stuff, looked alot like small kaviar. (best description I could think of)

Now, I am pretty sure that I have two females, should i just dispose of the eggs, or just leave them?

This is the first batch she has ever laid.

(i really cant deal with more eggs, my current larave are getting alot bigger)

Hi Aaron,

Sometimes the axies will eat up the eggs if you leave them be. However you can always remove them manually and humanely and properly dispose of them if you wish.

Cheers.

Hi Boof,

I agree with Rayson, I recently removed 344 eggs from one tank and it took a very long time and still left lots of extra waste in the tank. I saw the male eat 2 eggs but at that rate I would be waiting for ever to have them removed.

Ok, thats great, i might leave them be at the moment, as she is still laying, slowly, maybe 4-5 an hour, but they are appearing.

Im just waiting for the other one to get in on the act.
Then remove them all together.
I also noticed that she is getting alot of sand stuck to her, as she is covered is goop.

(i just look over and she is popping more of them out.)

If by any strange chance, my wild, isnt a female (god help me), how long til the eggs are unable to be fertilised after laying.

eg could the "possible male" come up a day or so later, and deposit on the eggs, or is it something that I should worry about.

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

the eggs should already be fertilised, the male would have deposited sprematafore packets which the female would have picked up prior to laying the eegs.

hi ian

i am rather sure i dont have a male in the tank

i was more so inlined to think these are not fertilised

From what i have read the eggs wouldn't have been laid if not fertile.
They would have be reabsorbed kind of lol

It is possible for a female to lay infertile eggs in the absence of a male. A bit unusual, but certainly possible.

I would suggest feeding them less food. This will both decrease egg production and make them more inclined to eat the eggs.

That would make complete sense.

I did up their diet a little, they were looking skinny.
I then noticed the albino getting very plump.
Then BANG, surprise eggs.

I think i might just leave them, and if I noticed any changes in the eggs (eg are maturing) I will get rid of them.

If not, they can stay and feed them a little.
What are the nutritional values of axie eggs?

High in protien I assume.
I really think they are both female.

The Olive axie is keeping its distance and not really doing much.

(anyone wanting eggs in the next few weeks pm me, I will keep you updated to if these are fertilised)
