Maybe it has been said before but the genus Triturus is meanwhile split up in several genera : Lissotriton

Well aparently I ksipped that one.. shame on me ?
Anywai I saw my Triturus shot being re-labelled at amphibiaweb yesterday so that's what triggered me off.

Anyway the alpestris stands on it's own, the little ones are lissotriton and everything big seems to have stayed in the trirurus group (marmoratus, vittatus, cristatus group)
