So I just so happen to have a spare 10 gallon in my room that I haven't used in years. I figured if I clean it (no soap/chemicals duh!) and convince my dad (my mom is already on board) I can house an axoltol in there! If my dad approves I'll get everything I need to cycle and decorate the tank!

Here comes the tough part: I'd be fine with having an axoltol shipped to me but it is very cold here near DC. The LFS has one axolotl but I'm not sure if it's for sale or not... I might ask where they got it from to see if they're local. If not, would it be ok to ship an axolotl in cold weather? And what website/breeder is the best?

Thanks for your help:)

Hi, good luck getting your parents to allow you.

My thoughts are that its tramatic for the axie to be posted regardless of the weather. How about eggs? It was really fun and interesting for my children to watch theirs grow and it makes them really respect our axie.

It was a great process.

Hope that helps.

10 gallons is not big enough for an adult, you'd need to upgrade to something bigger before it gets to full size.

You're better off finding someone local and collecting an axie yourself, but shipping will depend on the temperature outside - too cold and a reputable breeder will not ship until the weather is suitable.
