2 of my little juvies died today :(

4 of them weren't thriving in the tank I had moved them to, I think they didn't like the current from the filter. They were possibly too small to handle even the limited flow and were looking thin. So I put them back in the tubs for some TLC and so I could monitor their food intake.

The 2 wildtypes went downhill fast, they both developed fungus, possibly due to being weak because they weren't eating. They didn't make it.

One of the albinos is looking thin and lethargic, and I think it's about 50/50 whether he'll pull through. His gills are all curled, but he seems interested in food, so at least there's hope.

The other albino seems to be doing fine now, he's eating and pooping well, his gills are looking fuller, and he's quite lively.

The other 12 from the same brood are fat, active, have gorgeous fluffy gills, they are chomping at the turkey baster and my fingers, and are ready to go to their new owners.

Is there anything else I can do for the poorly albino?

I'm sorry, Auntiejude. Sometimes these things happen, despite our best efforts.

I wish them peace under the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you. I did everthing I knew how to.

But at least I have learned something that I can use next time.

:( I'm very sorry to hear this Jude. I'm battling a similar problem, as you know I did the switch to blood worm and they all seem to be doing well..... That is except one, a rather small albino maybe 3/4 inch, it refuses to take the blood worm, I don't know what to do, maybe go back to brine shrimp for a bit. Last week I had another albino (there were only two from this clutch) just died, I wasn't expecting it, it did not look ill, was eating fine etc. just woke up and it was gone. :(

I would.
Mine are 3-4" so BBS is not an option for them, but it sounds like you little bubby would do well on them.

I know it's expected that you'll lose a few when you raise babies. But it's still sad when you do.

Dunno why but mine were ignoring the Daphnia, I began to worry that I'd lose them all and so I started grating frozen bloodworm cubes and dropping small amounts around the tub I have them in......they appear to be eating and thriving on the gratings....I've been doing daily water changes and putting the gratings in twice a day.

All crossed but it's early days...the little ones are still less than an inch in length but they have some lovely looking gills.
