I just bought my newts an air conditioner!

I hope they like it, i dont think my ice pack method was working well for them.

i guess its a good thing i have a down comforter too.
 
being a col-weather person myself, having a cold room is a special "fringe" benefit I love.
 
I just picked up a 9000 btu air conditioner on Saturday. I'm putting it in my basement for the animals. Last August was horrible. I was working 10 hour days at my real job and doing massive water changes on most of my axolotls every other day. The weather here has been mild this spring and early summer but I'm almost ready for the heat.
 
i woke up this morning and it felt like the middle of winter (and it was 90 degrees outside). they newts are more active now that it is colder too.

    Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

    He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
