Notice how their tail tips have blackened as also seen with H. lichenatus and H. nigrescens larvae.

Around a week since hatching, they're now eating tubifex, having started out on brine shrimp.

Jen, no, the first pictures are from the day I got the egg sac from a friend (together with the H. lichenatus sac I posted about already). I might inquire to see if he has any photos taken before then. Kyle, I upgraded to the Canon 20D a couple of years ago. It's a 50mm Canon Compact-Macro Lens.

Ryan, there are 30-40. Haven't counted them yet.

Jonathan, the sac is pretty firm at first but gradually softens up and disintegrates as shown in the March 21 post at this link:
