I will be getting about 75 Axolotl eggs shortly, and am about to place an order for my BBS. How much will I need to last until they can start eating other stuff? Thanks.

There is no real answer, a lot depends on how many hatch and how fast they grow.

You need to get the eggs quickly though, so you can gauge how long they take to hatch in your set up.

I've read that you should have two hatcheries going at the same time so some BBS are always ready to give to the larve everyday. Stagger them so one hatchery is starting when the other has BBS ready to feed to the axies.

Thats why you need to figure out how long BBS take to hatch in your environment. If you can reliably hatch what you need in 24 hours you only need one hatchery, if it takes longer you will need 2 with a 24-hour overlap. As a novice 2 hatcheries is a good idea.

Thanks auntiejude. As a newbie to both larve and BBS, I plan on having two going. I figure if I make too much I'll just feed it to the topical fish tank.

I would suggest 50-100 gms should see you through, or 2-4 oz.

May I also suggest you get hold of a grindal worm starter culture and set that up too. They will make a nice feed once the hatchlings get a little too big for the bbs and are a nice transition to bloodworm.
