Hi guys!

i just got some "sliver sand" which looks alot like beach sand.
It took me an hour of washing to get all the junk out and after i put it into the tank the water went all foggy (kinda like when you mix 1 tea spoon of milk with water). I was just wondering if it will affect my Axies as the sand manages to settle?

Are the axolotls in the murky water? if so I would take them out, as soon as the muck settles you should be fine though. I personnally use small pepples as I feel it lets the axolotls get a good foot hold and its much easier to clean, also it doesn't get stirred up when you add extra water or new decorations. Pepples come in a wide variety of shapes and colours so I would think about using them instead of sound. I hope that helps.

If you have a filter, this will help clear up the murkiness.

Ryan, small pebbles are not easier to clean than sand, and can also lead to impaction and death in axolotls.

Just a general comment but I would recommend against adding a new substrate, chemicals, or even large landscaping changes with the animals in the tank. Too much potential for unexpected outcomes.
