This morning I got two axolotls.
One 4 months.
One 1 or 2 months.
Im just going to say the 4month is the male. (I don't know how to tell gender, so im just guessing.) His name is Jiyong.
I need a cute and kawaii name for the female. Which Im just guessing is the 1 or 2 month old.
And does anyone know how to tell the gender?
Thanks! :3

Hi,

you can determine the gender when they are nearly 18cm in size. The male become a thick round bulge behind their back legs, the bulge of the female axies will be much smaller.

How big are your axies? I assume, that the difference in lenght of yours is too much and you have to separate them. The difference in size shouldn´t be more than 1/4. If the difference is too much, the bigger one can hurt or even eat the little one.

If your axie is wild coloured or an other dark pigmented form, it can be sexed at the size of 8-10 cm (this is why I prefer pigmented axies than albinos and leucistics) by the following way: you light through the anal region with a lamp. The inner side of the female's cloaca is dark coloured, but the male's is light. I haven't read this manner anywhere yet, this is my experience, but until now it was correct in every cases.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
