Hello can anyone ID what species my paddle tail newt Is and maybe what sex It Is?

I bought It at a local petshop and I clearly saw more than one species there so I'm not sure what species It Is. I think mine might me a P. labiatus but I'm no expert :p. So If anyone can provide me with that information I would be very greatful.
Here are some pics of the newt, If anyone needs better pics of the newt I'll post some more.
Thanks
-Frank

Judging by the dark uniform back coloration and the red dorsal markings i´d say it´s got be Pachytriton labiatus.

I agree. Pachytriton labiatus. I have on that looks exactly like it. Maybe they came from the same stream!:D

I'm with Azhael on this one, it looks like a female P. labiatus to me.

Thank you all for your help!

So thanks to all you I have a positive ID on her. Oh, I have a question, are these species difficult to breed ? I was thinking of getting a male but I wasn't sure if she was a "she".. I know that these are territorial and will fight with there own species if territory is invaded.
So my questions basically are, Is it worth getting a male and trying to get them to breed?
and will I have any trouble if I buy the male?

Any info is appreciated Thanks in advance.

They are very difficult to breed, indeed.
I haven´t heard of a completely succesfull breeding. I´ve read about people succesfully getting eggs, even larvae and juveniles, but they all died before reaching maturity.
If someone has succeeded i´d be very interested in hearing about it.

I think it´s worth a try if you really are interested in the challenge and plan to do anything necessary. If you are just hoping that they might breed then i´d say that the risks involved are not worth it.
Some indibiduals get along rather well as long as sufficient space, hiding places and visual barriers are provided. Others don´t...so it´s a bit of a hit-and-miss situation.

I see thank you Azhael, I think trying to get then to breed would be a very interesting adventure for me :p. I'll give it a shot , it cant hurt (can it?). But first I have to buy the male and quarantine and all that and I'm not expecting to see anything right away so I wont get my hopes up.

About how many of these species do you think could be housed in a 4 foot long tank?

Pachytritons can be unpredictable in group. I keep my pachytritons seperated after problems occured about territorium and inbetween-sexes.
It could be a female you have, I don't see white marks in the tail
Iff males don't understand , and they don't, watch out for biting with seriuous injures.
