It is a Hailea brand and I think it is a 150 model (it is downstairs so i can't check). I spent 180$ on it as it was second hand but "never used".

I was just wondering if anyone else used this chiller and could tell me what it's like and whether I got ripped off or if I paid a fair price for it.
I've heard some people have troubles with the temperature display... but surely that wouldn't matter if you had a temperature gauge in the tank as well ?

Thanks so much x

that was a bargain buy! I'm jelly!

it should have a control where you can set the tempreture. just be sure it matches the thermometer in your tank. it's always best to have one so you know its working as it should.

You did well. I have one like that and I havent had a problem.

Good buy. My new hailea has been running 18 months and has been good so far

You will see mixed revwies of the Haileas on the net, but mine has been fine.

Basically they are an entry level chiller, so you get what you pay for.

A ferrari is a cooler ride than a VW, but the VW will still get you there right?

The only thing i would do is check the thermostat is calibrated ok, they have a rep for being a little off. It is really easy.

* Buy a good quality tank thermometer, stick it in the tank.

* Set up and run the chiller, set the required temp for 25 celc + (a high temp well above what your tank actually is) this is so the chiller wont switch on.

* The display on the chiller will display the current water temp - lets say for example it says 21 c

* Check your good quality tank thermometer - does it match the display?

If it matches, all good. If it disagrees eg the thermometer says 22 while the chiller says 21, then you can calibrate the chiller.

I cant remember off the top of my head how to calibrate the chiller, but it is easy.

Do you have the instruction book with it? If not let me know and i'll send you a copy.

One thing though, if you muck with the calibration then it is mucked with! there is no reset button :) So personally i'd only recalibrate it if it was way off.

For the record, mine was perfectly calibrated from out of the box
