Looking my aquarium i see a little hydra on a plant.
Since in the past i have problems with Ichthyophthirius multifiliis Protozoa and the hydra eat very little organisms, i start to think if this predator can be helpful against ick or other little parasite.
Another question, hydras don't attack newt right?

Hello,

Hydra against Ichthyophthirius, I don't know. The tomits (mobile forms of the parasite) may be too small to be caught by the hydra, but I can be wrong.

Concerning the newts, I had testimonies from several persons, who say globally that hydra may be harmful to young newt larvae. Adult newts are suspected to suffer irritation from contact with hydra but I couldn't record any observation.

Thank you, ick adult (before the encystment) are 0,5 to 1mm, i see them and they are like little white spot that swim around infected fish.
Just like you i don't know if hydra eat them, but i really hope that a tank full of hydra can work with this damn Ichthyophthirius!
