Hello forum,
i was wondering what chemicals brands and testing brands are best for axolotls, what would be an ideal chemical and testing equipment for a 50 gallon black lite tank?

Hello, i personally use 'API stress coat+' to dechlorinate their water and you only need a tiny bit each time so it lasts ages :)
And for testing the water i know a lot of people, myself included, use API master test kit (for freshwater) as the test strips are unreliable.

I hope you don't plan on running a blacklight with an axolotl.

That's exactly what i do! And that test kit is definitely the best.
Also, API has a lot of other good chemicals that can help keep your pH & ammonia levels right.

I use a product called Ultimate, it works better then API for me.
I use the API master test kit.

There isn't really a specific testing kit or chemical that works best for axolotls. It's really just going to be whats cost effective and keeps your water chemistry in good condition.

I used to use API, but since moving from "country" water, the Ultimate works much much better.

You should ditch the black light.
unfortunately i'm seeing more and more breeders hoping to get you to buy the "more expensive one" will tell you it's perfectly fine to leave it on 24-7
at the very least don't turn it on unless you are just impressing friends with your glowing axolotl.
There are several threads on here about the harmfulness of UV light on axies that you should search and read through.

I was actually going to ask if API Stress Coat+ was okay because I'm going to have to pick up some more dechlorinator soon :D
Thanks!

Most de chlorinating products work fine.
I also always make sure any i use has heavy metal removal as well.
