How to clean new hide?

Been a while but I recently got S'Miguel a new hide and I'm not sure how to clean it. It's just basic aquarium décor and it has been used before, but I don't know by what. How can I clean it so that it's axi safe without using stuff that will hurt him? He's not a big hider, mostly just likes to hang out in the plants but I'm hoping he will like this.

Soak it in some hot water and scrub with a clean toothbrush or something similar.

Have you checked it for sharp edges? I got a new tunnel for my axie and had to spend half an hour with my dremmel smoothing the sharp edges down.

If it's designed for aquarium use you should only need to give it a rinse - just to remove any dust really - and it's good to go.
