Hello everyone! Unfortunately, it seems what i had thought were a group of 5 granulosa now seem to be Torosa. I would eventually like to breed these animals (though I will not be doing so for a long time. With that said, does anyone have any experience Breeding the California newt, Taricha torosa? Any advice is appreciated

While I don’t have experience breeding these newts, I have seen them in the wild and in ponds near me. The adults live terrestrially for most of the year, because the ponds evaporate. Around January - April, the ponds in my area get larger and the newts travel to the ponds to breed. Since there isn’t much captive care information, I’d suggest replicating their wild habitat/seasonal cycle as closely as you can.

Sounds like a good idea! What are temperatures like in your area? From my research, it sounds like the newts are terrestrial from June to November at which time the temperature is 70’s to 80’s (though I assume cooler in their shelters and under leaf litter, then the temperatures drop to the 50’s, and rain fills up their breeding waters as they begin to travel to them. Is this accurate?
