How often do Danube (Crested) Newts spend out of the water?

My two seem to only surface for air. I know they cycle with their stages. Are they predominately aquatic at the moment?

Adult newts are primarily aquatic and only leave the water if necessary. Their mid-stage is terrestrial but can be skipped with some work. Larvae are of course aquatic.
