I got him on Saturday, put him in the tank about 3pm and chucked some bloodworm in. He started eating straight away, and pretty much hasnt stopped, hes going through a bag of livefood a day He seems to spend his every waking hour eating!

He seems generally happy, spends a couple of hours sleeping curled up in a plant, but moves about a fair bit. I've got a current running through the tank, but he seems to avoid the bit with the most water movement. I've just added another load of plants and hes currently investigating. No doubt hoping for food as I havent fed him today

Its no issue to chuck blood/earth worms etc in every day,and I like watching him hunt  but I dont want to overfeed him. It seems a large volume off food for something so small! Should I just keep feeding him? I dont seem to have a problem with waste food, as they are live and he is hunting down and obliterating them all :D

Hehe, little guy sounds greedier than mine! I would continue with the feeding as it is, varying his food (if you can get your hands on any other types). If he starts looking podgy, scale back how much he gets.

Just out of interest, what shop/supplier did you get him from?

Hey I'am not 100% sure how much you should give it but also try giveing it some red wigglers or shopped up earthworms into small piece's.

He came from a pet shop in Middlesbrough, Johns Pet Shop. I wasnt keen on buying from a pet shop, I just went for a look. They were kept in the right sort of conditions and seemed in good health, so I took a flyer on it. He really does eat like a pig! He didnt get fed yesterday and isnt a happy bunny! Its not even that hes thin, hes in good condition, he just likes to hunt and eat!

Hes had blood worms, brine shrimp, daphnia and I've ordered some earth worms for him. His tank is very heavily planted and hes currently turned his attention to investigating. Hes climbing up to the top and then shimmying back down :D Hes very active. Fingers crossed I've been lucky and got one that will make it!

I've got a 3ft 6 tank spare, I'm hoping eventually, once I can reliably sex 'him' I can get a another one and have a go at breeding. It seems such a shame that you can only really get WC ones :(
