The coin is dedicated to the speckled salamander, a representative of Caudate amphibious species, the only type of salamander species in the fauna of Ukraine, which natural habitat covers mountain and submontane regions of the Carpathian mountains. [Photo at URL below]

Ecu d'or au Salamanders - A gold coin of France struck under Francis I (1515-1547). The obverse has crowned arms flanked by two salamanders. On the reverse, there are two F's and two salamanders in the angles of a cross.
