How long does it take for a female to lay all her eggs? Pepper has been going for over 24 hours now, I know it can take a while, but am I going to be rescuing the eggs for days? She's looking a lot thinner.
I've removed most of the eggs as the other semed to be trying to munch on them. Oh, and she's decided on some really odd places to deposit the eggs - on the air line, on a stone, inside the hides..... some I can't get to to remove them so they'll end up as snacks when/if they hatch :(

I just wrote a massive reply then lost it all.
They lay anywhere from a day to two days, they laid their eggs all over any rough surface they can find because in the wild they would hide their eggs in-between rocks, under rocks, around sticks ect to try to insure they were out of danger from predators. Have fun removing all those eggs in all that gross goo! Oh the fun and joy it shall be ت

I forgot to add, while she's laying, offer her food, she might not take it, but make sure u offer. Keep her in a dark quite room if possible to move her and her tank or tub. And I advice u to remove any plants or ordiments that u don't want covered in eggs and goo if it's not already to late! And don't forget after she has laid her all the eggs her body will be reproducing all the eggs for future mating, unfortunately they reproduce them right away ,and that takes a lot of their nutrients, effort and she might just want to be alone in a quite dark room for a day or 2 while she recovers. ت How old is the mother? ت

Thanks Suzie. I think she has stopped now - we have about 500 eggs. She was off her food the first day, but chomped down 2 worms yesterday, so I guess she has her appetite back.

The problem is that I have seen no courting behavior or spermatophores - if I had I would have segregated my male as I think the girls are too young.

I'm not sure exactly how old Pepper is but I'm not convinced she's over 12 months. She's the smallest of my 3 girls at 8", I've had her since the April when she was 3".

I'm now wondering if the other 2 girls are going to start laying...

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
