How long?

I just got a few newts and I'm hoping that one of them is gravid (it has a bulge in it's stomach). i'm a newcomer, so how long does it take before they lay the eggs? will they only be laying eggs if u feed them live food? How many plants should be in the tank with it?

No food would not have to be live, whether they're dead or wiggling blood worms are still blood worms. Some frozen foods, however, lose nutritional value, blood worms are the best of the frozen foods because they don't lose nutrients quickly.

Always nice to see that new people want to know so many things about newts, but sometimes you could start thinking "wouldn't it be great if we collected all this info on a webspace?" This way people could actually read a lot on theirselves first and than ask questions they want to know more about.
