I've had my chinese firebelly for 7 years. She's under a rock and has been there awhile. It's a precarious position and I'm scared to move the rock and crush her leg. I hope she's OK.
Thanks.

I never quantified the time, but broadly, minutes.
It depends on the amount of oxygen dissolved in the water(remember these animals are able to absorb oxygen through their skins), the health of the animal(certain illnesses can compromise their ability to breathe through the skin), the temperature...etc...
I wouldn´t worry too much, because these newts like to hide and it´s unlikely that she got stuck. If this bothers you, you could remove the problematic rocks once she gets out.

Thank you for your answer. Radclyffe is dead. She had been acting strange lately, not eating, swimming erratically. I made sure that her water quality was OK, but I guess it wasn't enough. She didn't appear to be trapped when I moved the rock.
:(

I´m sorry :(
If it was a pet-shop Cynops, it was an adult when you got it....so maybe after 7 years under your care it was simply too old.
