I am just curious how long daphnia ephippia can survive being dried out? Anyone have some experience in this?

Generally until conditions are suitable for hatching - usually just over winter.

Don't know about dried ones, but apparently they can survive more than 125 years in lake sediments... (according to this paper: http://www.pnas.org/content/94/17/9171.full )
...and at least 18 years in a deep-freeze
