How High should the warter be?

My eggs hzve yet to hatch and i was woundering how high the warter should be when they do hatch?
i read to lower it to a few cm/inches but how many and should the warter be this low when the eggs are in there not hatched?

When I have eggs, I keep them in very shallow water, they really just need to be covered in water, an inch is fine for the first few weeks.

but should the warter be this high and is alright o put eggs in the floor of the tank?
