How hard is a planted tank?

just wondering how hard it is to maintain and keep a planted tank....+

Not hard at all. There's a bit of trial and error at first, as you figure out what plants will work in your tank (light requirements and all that), but once plants are established, there's not much maintenance. At least, not that I've noticed - I have Anubias (nana) and some Amazon Swords in my tanks, and cuttings of Pothos that just float in the water; as well as some "Water Sprite" that needs trimming now and then. I also have Duckweed on the surface of my tanks, and I have to remove about half of it every month because it multiplies so quickly - some people HATE that, but it's not a huge amount of maintenance for me.

Hope this helps

I've gotten most of my plants from local LFs, but people on this board can probably point you to some online places that have good plants.

i've got a very heavily planted tank, occasionally some plants get uprooted, but other than that and pruning when things get too big, it's very low maintance. main thing is to have proper lighting and select the right plants for the appropriate water temperature, i've had a few things die but that's been either because they were for warmer water or simply not fully aquatic plants to begin with. with axies as fertilizer, i never have to add anything to the water in order for them to grow.

I got aluminium plant in my tank and is a bit of a nightmare cause it keeps droping its leaves

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
