I just got trio of lucistic Carnifex. They are about 7~8 cm. I keep them in a semi-aquatic tank where 1/5 of the tank is land and the deepest water level is about 20 cm. They just stay in the shallow water part which they can have their heads up on the surface. What are their natural environment as a juvenile?

Carnifex, across most of their range, are almost entirely aquatic at any age. So, a fully aquatic setup would be best for them, and they will also grow much faster aquatic - you may even find they will start breeding in the autum this year or in the spring next year. An ideal tank would have 20cm deep water with an abundance of aquatic plants and a floating piece of cork bark just in case they want to leave the water for a while. Good luck with them, they're a lovely species.
