How do u tell the difference between a male and female axolotl? I am unsure what sex I have as they both look the same?

Re: How can you tell the sex of an axolotyl?

  1. Often, the male has a larger cloaca. This rule does not apply to all species, and the difference may only be noticable during the breeding season.
  2. Often, the female is larger and/or more plump. This rule applies only if the animals compared being healthy, mature, well-fed, and similar ages.
