When I was younger 8 or 9 I fond some sals under rocks in my yard. I knew nothing about hem so housed about 8 in a criter catcher about 1.5G they were bout 2in body 2in tail and skinny. I tried to feed them salamander pellets. After I became more Intrested(now) I decided to go observe them. But found nothing. Did I wipe out their population? Can I bring them back? I'm in Ohio I don't know the breed? WhAt time of year should I look.

You probally had redback salamanders in your yard. Make sure there a shade trees planted with large tree stumps piled together under them. Don't clean up the leaves in the fall. The ones that lay on the ground around large rocks and stumps will help keep the ground moist. You should have been feeding them fruit flies and springtails not pellets nothing should be feed pellets in my opinion. I don't even feed pellets to my Axies unles I run out of worms, maggot larvae,crickets, and slivers of catfish and crayfish meat. Pellets are just back up for me.
